SUMMARY:Climbing week in Ötztal/Tirol
DESCRIPTION:Wie vorangekündigt organisiere ich heuer eine Kletterwoche im österreichischen Ötztal. Die Idee ist ein Haus (siehe hier) mit bis zu 15 Leuten zu füllen\, die selbstorganisiert gemeinsam klettern\, kochen und die Gegend erkunden. \nDie Lage und der griffige Gneiss erlauben schweres klettern auch im Sommer\, mit dem Hauptklettergebiet Niederthai in ca 15 Fahrminuten vom Haus\, sowie etlichen leichteren Klettergärten im Tal. Die Ötztaler Alpen bilden das insgesamt höchste Bergmassiv Österrreichs und bieten daher auch etliche Möglichkeiten zum Bergsteigen\, Mountainbiken und Kayaken. \nWeiter unten findet ihr zusätzliche Details auf Englisch. Ich freue mich jetzt schon auf eine lebhafte Runde gemeinsam im Sommer. \n———————————————————— \nAs announced previously\, I am organizing a trip to Ötztal in Tirol\, Austria\, for a week of rock climbing. The plan is to fill a house with up to 15 people motivated to climb\, cook and explore the region together between June 3 and 10 this year. \nWithin ca 15 minutes of driving from our home base (see here) is the famous crag of Niederthai with usually good conditions for hard summer sends on Gneiss. In addition\, there are several easier spots nearby. With the Ötztal Alps being the overall highest mountain range of Austria\, there are also plenty of opportunities for other activities including mountaineering\, mountain biking and white-water kayaking. \nSee below for details. Looking forward to a lively group trip with all interested Hüttlis. \n\nActivities: Rather than having a set program\, the idea is to just have a large group of people with a primary interest in rock climbing with the option of independently organizing break-out groups for rest days and other activities. \nTransport: Our home base will be in the quiet village of Köfels above the more touristy main valley. Ötztal can be reached by train in ca 3h from Zürich. To get around there\, we will need cars. Three spots in the sign-up sheet are reserved for drivers. If we should not have enough cars\, we will need to rent some in Tirol. \nAccommodation: The house hosts up to 15 people. Rooms vary between singles and bunks. Don’t expect luxury\, but a scenic terrace with BBQ. \nCosts: Housing costs for the entire week are ca. 150 CHF per person at full occupancy but may increase accordingly if we are fewer than 15. If less than 10 people sign up\, we will discuss alternatives. Additional costs will include transport (organized by car) and food\, which we can prepare together or individually in a spacious kitchen. \nRegistration: Please fill in your details here within the next two weeks (by March 12). As always\, first come-first serve. If you can contribute a car\, please put your name in the assigned rows. \nEnvironmental considerations: In accordance with recent discussion about our club’s contribution to CO2emissions\, we opted for a close-by location avoiding flights at the expense of the need for individual motorized transport. The group will discuss off-setting options during the trip. \n
