“Why have fun working alone when you can have fun working together?” I asked myself. So I invited six other Huttli and candidates to join me on a work trip to the Fondei Hut on the weekend of May 24-25, 2025.
With the car fully loaded with gas bottle, fence posts, pictures, a drilling machine, screws, and, of course, food for Apéro, dinner and breakfast, we arrived at the hut, where a large pile of firewood was already waiting for us. Storing the firewood in the woodroom went so quickly that I briefly worried we’d run out of work. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case. While I was busy repairing the shutters, Jörg hung up pictures, and Theresa and Jan set up a new compost heap. Sarah, Martin, and Jörg were unstoppable in replacing the old fence posts with new ones. While Theresa and Rainer mopped the floors in the dorm and changed the sheets of the mattresses, Jan, Jörg, and the other two took turns with the motor scythe.

After the work was finally done, we relaxed with a small Apéro on the terrace before enjoying a risotto that Theresa had prepared excellently (the two missing onions were under the back seat, by the way) and let the day come to a close.

We dedicated Sunday to cleaning the hut, disposing of old goods, tidying up the cellar, and trying to get the spring running again.

I’ve rarely experienced a work trip that was so much fun! A huge thank you from me to all the helpers!
Unfortunately, there was only one thing I couldn’t get my way: refolding all the blankets according to the pattern of folding them twice lengthwise and twice crosswise. Oh well, that will have to wait until the next work trip event.
