Frau Holle must have been on holiday when we, a group of 19 participants, were looking for a place to conduct avalanche transceiver training. Luckily, we still found some snow at Flumserberg, so we were able to bury the devices a few centimeters deep for the avalanche rescue exercise.

In pleasantly warm temperatures, we first focused on the theory and function of the devices. Specifically, we examined coupling positions, field lines, and, above all, how electronics worn on the body affect the devices.

Afterwards, we naturally searched intensively for buried equipment. Unfortunately, we had to cancel probing and shoveling this year – there simply wasn’t enough snow. Everyone in the group had the opportunity to practice signal, coarse, and fine search techniques multiple times and experience the group dynamics during the search.

After completing the exercise, we climbed a few more meters towards Prodkamm to finish the day with a descent on a very icy slope. A few of us even made it to the summit.
Many thanks to Christoph, Yannick, and Nick for your help, without which the day definitely wouldn’t have been possible!
