After the 2023 climbing week was very well received, Daniel offered to organize a climbing trip to the Dolomites for the club again this year. Despite the very bad weather forecast for the trip, with flooding north of the Alps and snow up to medium altitudes, it was clear to most of them that they would definitely give it a try. Two of the group however decided to enjoy the dolce vita and the difficult routes in Arco, but seven brave Huttli dared to make the trip to pitch their tents at the Sass Dlacia campsite at temperatures just below zero degrees.
In the first few days, no one was embarrassed about putting on four jackets on top of each other. After all, that’s what you bought all that equipment for in the first place.
Despite the low temperatures, we looked for fresh rock every day but after our first experience in a north-facing climbing crag in the Fanes Nature Park (“ultra-nea”), which left our fingers numb, we preferred south-faced rock. Luckily, during the week, the temperatures rose steadily so that climbing became less alpine and more enjoyable.
In addition to the alpine climbing, the beautiful landscape could also be explored very well on the bike.
In addition to the alpine and trail-flowing highlights, there was also a culinary highlight. Daniel invited us all to his parents’ house for homemade pizza!
.
Many thanks to Daniel for organizing this climbing week. It was definitely a highlight in the AACZ’s annual cycle.
